About us

Western Railway in its present form came into existence on 5th November, 1951 by the merger of its forerunner, the erstwhile Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway (BB&CI), with other State Railways viz, Saurashtra, Rajputana and Jaipur.

The BB&CI Railway was itself incorporated in 1855, starting with the construction of a 29 mile broad gauge track from Ankleshwar to Utran in Gujarat state on the West Coast. In 1864, the railway was extended up to Mumbai. Subsequently, the project was further extended beyond Baroda in a north easterly direction towards Godhra, Ratlam, Nagda and thereafter northwards towards Mathura to eventually link with the Great India Peninsula Railway, now Central Railway, which had already started operating in Mumbai in 1853.

  1. Most of the numbers are not working. Some is working but constant ringing.

    None of the control numbers of western railway or the helpline numbers are attended. All are ringing and nobody is lifting. Hope the concerned officials look into this. Even 139 service after selecting the option of speak to customer service it is ringing and no response for 10 minutes

    1. NO ONE PICKS UP THE PHONE, WANTED TO SUBMIT MY COMPLAINT.

  9. I want to lodge complaint against Mr. Ajit Yadav who don’t know to speak properly and who work in Andheri station as a Home guard.

  10. THERE IS NO FREE URINAL AT KANDIVALI STATION, ATTENDANT ABUSES WHILE EXTRACTING MONEY. FIRST PROVIDE FREE URINAL, THEN GO FOR PAID. AWAITING QUICK REPLY.

  11. There is a delay of train on daily basis (Western Railway Local Train). We are regular travelers of 9:50 AM -Bhayander Local which is a fast train from Bhayander to Churchgate. But from last one and half month, the train arrives on Bhayander station late by 10-15 minutes on daily basis and in addition, reaches its destination late by 25-30 minutes than its scheduled time as it halts in between a number of times.

    1. The grievances can be lodged online on . In cases where internet facility is not available or even otherwise, the citizen is free to send her/his grievance by Post. There is no prescribed format.

      The grievance may be written on any plain sheet of paper or on a Postcard / Inland letter and addressed to the Department.
